Headliners stages contrasting soul acts

Two acts on opposite ends of the soul-music spectrum are scheduled at Headliners.

Bobby Valentino, a R&B crooner who has the chart-topping hit Slow Down on his self-titled CD (Def Jam/DTP), performs at 8 p.m. tomorrow.

Dayton-reared plus-sized model Tocarra Jones, a former contestant on Tyra Banks UPN TV series America s Next Top Model and VH1 s reality series Celebrity Fit Club, will host the show and conduct a model search to look for Toledo-area clients for her modeling label.

At the other end of the continuum is world-beat hip-hop group Blackalicious, a Bay Area duo that includes emcee The Gift of Gab and producer/DJ Chief Xcel. Blackalicious is scheduled to perform hits from The Craft (Epitah Records) on Tuesday. Doors open at 8 p.m.
