Symphony, piano duo present Carnival

The Toledo Symphony and conductor Stefan Sanderling, along with the Onder Piano Duo, making their American orchestral debut, and narrator Greg Kostraba, will present a program titled Carnival of the Animals and Other Blockbusters! in the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle, 2445 Monroe St., at 8 p.m. Nov. 18 and 19. The University of Toledo department of music presents a free solo recital by faculty pianist Robert Ballinger at 3 p.m. Sunday as part of it s Faculty Artist Series in the Recital Hall of the Center for the Performing Arts on the UT campus. Ballinger will perform works by Bach, Schubert, and others. Also in the Recital Hall, the Toledo Alumni Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon will celebrate its Founders Day with a free concert at 3 p.m. Nov. 13 featuring clarinetists Babara Bauchman and Teresa Disbrow, pianists Micheal Boyd and Elaine Moore, and violinist Sue Sgro, accompanied by soprano Jeanne Bruggeman-Karp.

The Bowling Green Opera Theater with guest artist Paul O Dette will present the North American premiere of Gli Amori d Apollo e di Dafne in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center at Bowling Green State University at 8 p.m. Nov. 11 and 3 p.m. Nov. 13. The Perrysburg Symphony and Symphony Chorale present two concerts featuring Bach s Magnificat and Alan Hovhaness Magnificat in Trinity Episcopal Church, 1 Trinity Square downtown, at 7 p.m. Nov. 11, with a follow-up concert in First United Methodist Church, 200 West Second St., Perrysburg, at 3 p.m. Nov. 13. MICHIGAN

The University of Michigan School of Music s Opera Theater presents the 17th century opera The Coronation of Poppea at the Power Center, 121 Fletcher St., Ann Arbor, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10, at 8 p.m. Nov. 11 and Nov. 12, and at 2 p.m. Nov. 13.
