What happened to the "super" in Super Grover, and how can he get it back?

Youngsters and their adult companions can find out the answers to those questions in Sesame Street Live: Super Grover! Ready for Action, which opens tonight in the SeaGate Convention Centre.

The 90-minute show features such well-known Sesame Street characters as Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, Count Von Count, Telly, Prairie Dawn, Rosita, Zoe, Roxy Marie, and of course, Grover, the blue monster who looks at the world through the eyes of a 4-year-old.

In his imagination, Grover is a superhero, but when the super disappears, his Sesame Street friends work together to find and restore it.

Like the television series on which it is based, Sesame Street Live strives to teach children as well as entertain them, and Super Grover! explores exercise, nutrition, and other healthy habits.

Included in the show are lots of dancing and singing, with classic songs such as "Old MacDonald," "Splish-Splash," and "Sunny Days" all presented to underscore a healthy lifestyle.

"Sesame Street Live: Super Grover! Ready for Action," opens at 7 tonight in the SeaGate Convention Centre, 401 Jefferson Ave. Other performances are at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow; 10:30 a.m. and 2 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 tonight and $12 and $14 for the rest of the shows. Information: 419-321-5032.

Amber Brown is Not a Crayon, based on the series of children's books by Paula Danziger, opens Tuesday as the fourth production in the Theater Vision season at Lourdes College.

In the show, feisty Amber Brown is having enough trouble dealing with the trials and tribulations of third grade when she learns that her very best friend, Justin Daniels, is moving far away.

When Justin doesn't seem terribly distressed about the move, Amber gets angry, which causes Justin to clam up and Amber to get angrier, putting their friendship in jeopardy.

Geared to elementary school students, Amber Brown will be presented at 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Centre of Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania.

The show is aimed at school field trips, but the public is welcome to attend if space is available. Tickets are $7 for the earlier performance, $6.50 for the later show. Information: 419-824-3986.
