Chapter 6's unique spin leaves audiences awed

1/26/2006

A capela jazz group Chapter 6 will bring their unique take on vocal arrangements to Owens Community College's Center for Fine and Performing Arts for a concert Saturday night.

The group blends jazz, pop, and gospel in a heady mix that leaves audiences awed at their unique take on everything from Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" to comic pieces such as their own "Ode to Krispy Kreme."

The seven-member group was formed at Millikin University five years ago in Decatur, Ill. They infuse their songs with comedy and original arrangements, touring frequently at colleges.

Chapter 6 has won several awards, including the Chicago Regional Harmony Sweepstakes Grand Championship three times.

They've made four albums, a live concert DVD, and an appearance on ABC's Good Morning America.

Tickets for Chapter 6's 8 p.m. performance in the Mainstage Theatre at the Owens Community College Center for Fine and Performing Arts are $12 for the public and $10 for senior citizens and Owens students. To purchase tickets, go to www.stagetix.com or the college's box office. Information: 567-661-2787.
