Temptations, Marvelettes come to town

The Legends of Motown starring the Temptations and the Marvelettes will be in concert at 8 p.m. April 7 in the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. Tickets are $27.50, $32.50 and $39.50 from the box office, 419-381-8851.

Khaled Hosseini is the next speaker in the Authors! Authors! series presented by The Blade and the Lucas County Public Library. He will speak at 7 p.m. April 3 in the theater. He is the author of the book The Kite Runner, his debut novel about life in Afghanistan from the fall of the monarchy until the collapse of the Taliban regime. Tickets are on sale for an 8 p.m. April 21 concert, The Brian Regan "Take Luck Tour" at the theater. All tickets are $33.50 from the box office.

The sound of music will fill the air at the Mansion View Inn when "Any Wednesday" returns on the first Wednesday of every month at the Inn, 2035 Collingwood Blvd. The acoustic jam was a popular gathering for northwest Ohio musicians for 38 years, ending in 1998. The jam, which begins at 7 p.m. has been revived as a benefit for the historic inn. Music lovers are invited to play or listen to a variety of musical styles; complimentary coffee and soft drinks will be available. A $5 donation is requested. Information, 419-704-2267.

HMS Pinafore will be staged at 8 p.m. April 11 at the Valentine Theatre, 400 North Superior St. The acclaimed Carl Rosa Company's production of Gilbert & Sullivan's much loved comic opera comes direct from its sell-out United Kingdom tour. The Rover will be staged March 31-April 8 on the Mainstage Theatre at Owens Community College, 30335 Oregon Rd., Perrysburg. The romantic comedy tells the story of the wealthy Florinda racing against the clock to wed her penniless lover, Belvile. Florinda's actions occur as a result of her family wanting to marry her off to another man. The cast is comprised of more than 30 students from Owens, UT, local high schools, professional artists, and community members. Steven and Michael - the Mirror Images, identical twin illusionists bring their "Mystique Tour" to the Maumee Performing Arts Center, 1147 Saco St., Maumee at 7 p.m. April 2. Their illusions include floating objects, predictions, and death-defying acts centered around romance and comedy.
