Riverfront to pulsate with R & B festival

Toledo's Rock, Rhythm & Blues Festival is scheduled July 29 in Promenade Park along the downtown riverfront. Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats is the headliner, taking the stage from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Other performers include JT & the Clouds at 2 p.m., the Maurice John Vaughn Chicago Blues Review at 3 p.m., Howl at 4 p.m., Bryan Lee & the Blues Power Band at 5:30 p.m., and Marah at 7 p.m. Admission is $7 at the gate. The musical Grease will be staged July 28-30 and Aug. 3-6 in the Croswell Opera House, 129 East Maumee St., Adrian. Curtain times are 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. The Jesup W. Scott High School Class of 1971 presents A Song For You ... The Civil Rights Journey of a Negro Woman: Lena Calhoun Horne at 6 p.m. July 28 in the Little Theater of the Toledo Museum of Art, 2445 Monroe St. This tribute to Horne is written and performed by actress Wendi Joy Franklin. Elvis, featuring Robert Rosenkrantz, will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 in the Ohio Theatre, 3114 Lagrange St. Also appearing will be a live band and cameo appearances by Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, and Johnny Cash tribute artists. AUDITIONS

The Harvest Theatre of Toledo announces auditions for the One Page International Play Festival, to be produced as part of Artomatic 419 during the month of September. Two male and two female actors of any age are needed to play as many as 25 parts in this production celebrating the art of the one-page play. Waterville Playshop announces auditions for their fall production of Annie, at the Old Firehouse in Waterville, on Rt. 64, next to Conrad Park. Adults should come prepared with a song, accompaniment will be provided. There will also be a dance portion to the audition. Kids will learn part of a song and dance from the show. Auditions for adults will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. July 28, July 30 and August 4, while auditions for kids will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. July 30 and August 4. The Second City Detroit's Adult Training Center returns for the final courses of this summer with open registration through July 28 at Second City, 42705 Grand River Ave., in Novi, Mich.
