Organ and piano concert set in the Ohio Theatre

"Themes Like Old Times," featuring Bill Yaney playing the Marr & Colton Theatre pipe organ and Ragtime Rick on piano, is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Ohio Theatre, 3114 Lagrange St. The concert is a benefit for the continued preservation of the pipe organ. The Toledo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Chelsea Tipton II and featuring violinist Tai Murray, present "Haffner Symphony plus Ravel!" at 7:30

The work of undergraduate and graduate music composition students will be featured in a student composers' forum concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center at Bowling Green State University. Also in Bryan, the BGSU student jazz combos will perform in at 8 p.m. Oct. 5.

In Kobacker Hall, operatic heldontenor Jon Fredric and pianist Kenneth Bownen present a all-Wagner recital at 8 p.m. Wednesday and The 5 Browns, sibling pianists, will give a lecture/demonstration from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 11. The siblings came to national attention last year when all five were studying piano at the same time at the Juilliard School in New York.

The final program of this season's Rhythm on the River Arts Series, featuring the Otsego High School Show Choir and Band, will take place following the meeting of the Grand Rapids Historical Society at 3:45 p.m. Sunday at the Jerry Wright Pavilion in Grand Rapids. Information: 419-354-9045.
