St. Patrick a theme of concerts
3/1/2007The Toledo Symphony and conductor Chelsea Tipton II present a St. Patrick's Day Spectacular, featuring Irish tenor Robert White singing traditional Irish favorites and classics and pianist Phillip Fisher joining the symphony in Irish music by Beethoven. The concert is scheduled at 8 p.m. March 17 in Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heath-erdowns Blvd. Tickets range from $22 to $60. Information: 419-246-8000.
The Williams Community Concert Association presents tenor Derick Moloney singing traditional Irish songs and opera arias at 7:30 p.m. March 15 in Bryan Auditorium, West High St., Bryan. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.
Soprano Judy Pearson, countertenor Bob Rudolph, flutist Connie Alleshouse, violinist Cecilia Johnson, and pianist Gladys Rudolph will present a recital of music by Dowland, Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Mendelssohn, and Barber at 3 p.m. March 11 in First Unitarian Church, 2210 Collingwood Blvd. Information: 419-241-7189.
A guest recital by Karen Boyd, director of piano studies at Butler University, will take place at 8 p.m. March 12 in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center at Bowling Green State University
Also in Bryan, the BGSU Flute Choir will perform at 8 p.m. March 13.
The College of Wooster's Scot Symphonic Band will perform at 7 p.m. March 10 in Perrysburg Junior High School, 550 East South Boundary, Perrysburg. Freewill donations will be collected.

Fiddler and step-dancer Natalie MacMaster joins the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in a St. Patrick's Day Celtic Celebration at 10:45 a.m. and 8 p.m. March 15, 8:30 p.m. March 16 and 17, and 3 p.m. March 18 in the Max M. "Bay Mo Dilo" (Give Me Water) is scheduled at 8 p.m. March 14 in the Michigan Theater, 603 East Liberty St., Ann Arbor. Presented by master tap dancer Tamango, the multimedia production brings together dancers and musicians from French Guiana, Haiti, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Ivory Coast, and France in an exploration of the rhythms and culture of the Creole heritage.
