Bluesman to perform at Finn's
6/14/2007Blues guitarist Jimmy Thackery performs at 8 p.m. June 24 with his band the Drivers at Mickey Finn's Pub, 601 Lagrange St. The band is on tour in support of Thackery's latest album, "Solid Ice." Thackery's style pays homage to every spectrum of the blues experience from the Delta masters to Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Sauder Village presents its annual Focus on Fiber Arts on June 23. The event takes an in-depth look at the world of fiber arts. Visitors can watch as spinners and weavers demonstrate the steps involved in taking a sheep's wool and turning it into colorful cloth. Guest fiber artists will join with Sauder Village's craftspeople to conduct demonstrations in knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, tatting. fiber dyeing, wool felting. On the same day, the village will host the national Tinsmith-Coppersmith Convergence. More than 40 metal workers from as far away as California, Connecticut, and Nebraska will come together for this third annual event.

Nashville songwriter, JT Hall, originally from Toledo, will be playing at various times during the Rib, Rides & Rods Event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Napoleon Harley Davidson, 862 American Rd., Napoleon. Hall will play acoustic sets throughout the day and will perform his song "Ride With Me," originally released as a tribute for the 100th anniversary of Harley Davidson. The event also features a car and bike show and food. Proceeds from the show will benefit the family of Cpl. Shane Parsons from Fostoria, who was recently injured in Iraq.
Comedian Charles Marshall will perform at 7:30 p.m. June 23 in Olivet Lutheran Church, 5840 Monroe St., Sylvania. "The difference between my comedy and a lot of the clean comedy being done today is that mine is actually funny," Marshall said. Tickets are $10 from the church, 419-882-2077. A portion of the proceeds will benefit area homeless shelters.

Top of the Park, an annual outdoor music and movie series that is part of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival, runs tomorrow through July 8 on the University of Michigan's Ingalls Mall on Washington Street in Ann Arbor. The 2007 Summer Ohio Guitar Show will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 24 in the Aladdin Shrine Temple, 3850 Stelzer Rd., Columbus (Easton exit off I-270). More than 1,000 dealers from across the U.S., England, and Japan will attend what is billed as the biggest guitar show in the Midwest.
