National recording artist Eddie Money will headline The Blade/ToledoBlade.com RiverFest and Pandemonium VIII Fireworks Celebration 2007, presented by Buckeye CableSystem, from 5 to 10 p.m. Sept. 2 in Promenade Park along the downtown riverfront. Admission is $5, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Toledo Zoo.

A local band will open the event, which is produced by CitiFest. Information: 419-249-4090 or www.citifest.org.

Individual tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday for most of the 2007-08 Broadway Series at the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. Available will be tickets for the Toledo premiere of Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy, Oct. 4-7; the Tony-Award winning musical Monty Python s Spamalot, Nov. 27-Dec. 2; and Evita, April 24-27. Single tickets for Disney s The Lion King, which is scheduled Feb. 21-March 30 as part of the series, will be available beginning Oct. 13. Also on sale Monday will be tickets for Jim Brickman s Holiday Concert on Dec. 31.

The Valentine Theatre, 400 North Superior St., is presenting Saturday at the Movies on Aug. 25. The theater will be showing, for free, Shrek at 1 and 3:30 p.m. and Casablanca at 6:50 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets must be picked up at the free-movie-ticket window at the box office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. No phone orders will be taken. There is a limit of 4 tickets per household for Shrek and 2 tickets per household for Casablanca. The Art Tatum African American Resource Center at the Kent Branch Library, 3101 Collingwood Blvd., presents A Showcase of the Arts from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 25. The free events, presented in conjunction with the women of the Toledo chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, will showcase 35 acts of local talent in visual arts, poetry, dance, theater, music, and song. The Mirrors and the Lamp (Voices from the Margins), presented by the Funhouse Writers Group, will be staged at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 24 in Brewed Awakenings Coffee House, 2636 West Central Ave. Under the direction of Frank Murphy, the evening consists of music, poetry, and discussions with diverse individuals from the greater Toledo area on the topics of healing, celebration, and envisioning justice through the arts. Geffen recording artist Rooney and Fueled by Ramen recording artist the Hush Sound will be playing a free acoustic concert at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Culture Clash Records, 4020 Secor Rd. Both bands will be available afterward for a signing and meet-and-greet session.

The Homewreckers will entertain at the Dealin For Dogs 2007 event from 7 p.m. to midnight Aug. 25 at the Hanson Inc. parking lot, 1625 Indian Woods Circle, in Maumee s Arrowhead Park. A barbecued chicken dinner, raffles and a silent auction, games of chance, and beer and wine will be available. Proceeds benefit Assistance Dogs of America, Inc. Detroit rockers Lime Regal will debut their six-song EP titled, Making Me Wonder at a performance at 8 p.m. Aug. 24 in the Magic Bag, 22920 Woodward Ave., Ferndale, Mich. A follow-up release performance is scheduled Aug. 25 in Rick s Music Cafe, 4725 Woodville Rd., Northwood.

AUDITIONS

The Croswell Opera House will hold auditions for the holiday musical Peter Pan from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at 137 East Maumee St., Adrian. There will be no auditions in September and October as previously announced. Auditioners should come with a prepared song and are asked to bring their own sheet music. There will be no taped music or a capella singing. Production dates are Nov. 30-Dec. 2 and Dec. 7-9.

The Croswell is also seeking a cast for the classic thriller Dracula, by Hamilton Deane and John L. Badlerston, adapted from the Bram Stoker novel. Actors should report between 2 and 4 p.m. Aug. 26 and 5 and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the opera house. Needed are six men and two women. Production dates are Oct. 19-21 and 26-28. • The Coming Attractions Players has announced a second audition for Red, Hot & Cole at 8 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Rossford United Methodist Church, 270 Dixie Hwy., Rossford. Needed are male actors. Auditioners should prepare 16 bars of a popular 1930s/40s standard. A typed resume is preferred but not necessary. Production date is tentatively set for mid-October. • Harvest Theatre of Toledo will hold company auditions for its third season from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Collingwood Arts Center, 2413 Collingwood Blvd. Auditions will be by appointment (in 10-minute intervals.) Actors should prepare a two-minute contemporary monologue of drama or comedy and bring a resume. Resumes do not have to professional. The theater is also looking for designers and tech personnel.
