Hip-hop show aids charities

5/15/2008

A hip-hop-themed concert tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. in Owens Community College's Center for Fine and Performing Arts will raise money for three local charitable organizations.

A number of acts will perform various styles of hip-hop, reggae, and soul music, and there will be poetry and dancing at the Hip-Hop Hope Benefit Concert.

Tickets are $10. Proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club on Detroit Avenue, the Frederick Douglass Center, and the Cherry Street Mission. Among the acts performing are Derrick Jordan, Da Litta, Nomeo, and Mista Dread.

The event is being presented by Dangerously Ambitious Records, a local record label.
