Pianist Andrew Armstrong to play in Mozart and More concerts

The Toledo Symphony will perform concerts in its Mozart and More series and its Neighborhood outreach.

Stefan Sanderling conducts the Toledo Symphony and pianist Andrew Armstrong in Mozart and More concerts at 8 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary on the campus of the University of Findlay and at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center of Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. The program comprises Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 26 in D Major and Haydn's Symphony No. 103 in E-flat Major. Tickets for the Findlay concert are $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens, $15 for UF employees, $10 for non-UF students, and free to UF students with a valid college ID. Information: 419-434-5335. The symphony will also present a neighborhood concert at St. Martin de Porres Church, 1119 West Bancroft St., at 5 p.m. Feb. 22. Chelsea Tipton II will conduct a program of works by Aaron Copland, John Philip Sousa, George Gershwin, and Adolphus Hailstork. Tickets are $15 from the church at 419-241-4544.

Trinity Church's Performing Artist Series continues at 7 p.m. Feb. 20 with a performance by Sax 5th Avenue. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Information: 419-243-1231.

Rudolf Kelber will perform an organ concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20 as part of the music series of First Congregational Church, 2315 Collingwood Blvd. Kelber is cantor and organist of St. Jacobi's Church in Hamburg, Germany. The concert is free, but donations will be solicited.

Soprano Ann Corrigan and mezzo-soprano Tina Bunce will present a concert of vocal duets by Antonio Vivaldi, Henry Purcell, Felix Mendelssohn, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Ned Rorem as part of the concert series at Rosary Cathedral, 2535 Collingwood Blvd.

They will be accompanied by oboist Annie Corrigan, pianist Kevin Bylsma, and organist Mark Koehl. The performance at 3 p.m. Feb. 22 is free, but donations will be solicited. Information: 419-244-5182.

Conductor Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, pianist Horacio Gutierrez, and the Detroit Symphony will perform Ludwig Von Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 and Richard Strauss' tone poem Ein Heldenleben (A Hero's Life) in Orchestra Hall of the Max M. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Feb. 19, 10:45 a.m. Feb. 20, and 8:30 p.m. Feb. 21. Tickets range from $19 to $123.

Also in the Max, jazz guitarist John Scofield is to perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 20. Tickets range from $19 to $99.
