GREEN GAME

Green prizes are coming on down at The Price is Right.

In observance of Earth Day, tomorrow s episode of the CBS game show will feature environmentally friendly products including cell phones made of recycled materials, solar charging equipment, and a recycling cabinet.

Environmentalist and actor Ed Begley, Jr., will introduce a showcase that includes an electric bike, golf cart, and Toyota Prius hybrid car. Trips offered during the show will be paired with donations to offset carbon emissions.

CBS soap operas As the World Turns, The Young and the Restless, and Guiding Light will recognize Earth Day within their sudsy plots.

More than ever there are things that we can do that are really simple to do, said Barbara Bloom, senior vice president of daytime for CBS. We can do that as people who supply entertainment. We are a powerful tool for messaging. I just wanted to remind people that it s very easy to keep this in your consciousness as you go through your life.

CHANGE OF HEART

Oprah Winfrey decided yesterday to pull an already-taped episode of her show that was to mark the 10th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre.

The episode, 10 Years Later: The Truth about Columbine, was to air yesterday on the anniversary of the massacre in Littleton, Colo., that killed 12 students and a teacher.

I decided to pull the Columbine show today. After reviewing it, I thought it focused too much on the killers. Today, hold a thought for the Columbine community. This is a hard day for them, Winfrey wrote on Oprah.com.

Columbine Task Force lead investigator Kate Battan, FBI special agent Dwayne Fuselier, Dave Cullen author of the book Columbine and Columbine High School principal Frank DeAngelis had taped the episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show.
