Bret Michaels brings music, quest for love to Toledo

Bret Michaels will be in Toledo for a concert Wednesday.

You hit the road with the boys and you leave your girlfriend/wife/significant other behind and what happens? You meet a bevy of women and disaster ensues.

Welcome to Bret Michaels life. The doo-ragged former Poison frontman s schtick on the VH1 show Rock of Love is that he s trying to find true love among a group of women who are vying for his attention by seeming to get drunk and fight among themselves. He eliminates them through various challenges, but, alas, never finds true love; or at least he hasn t for three seasons.

Now he s taking the contestants on the road with him for his current tour, which stops in Toledo Wednesday. The deal is this: The women are tagging along on separate buses and they have to perform duties such as fending off groupies, hauling equipment around, and other neat stuff.

Here s how Michaels Web site describes the fun:

During this Love Bus tour, the girls will actually witness Bret in all his rock star glory as he performs three or four concerts throughout the journey. Once the roar of the concert crowd dies down and before the buses pull out of each city a girl (or girls) will be eliminated. Eliminations will be staged in the parking lots of concert venues or local truck stops. Once a girl has been eliminated, she and her bags will be taken off the bus, and standing alone in the parking lot, she ll watch as the buses start up and take off for the next city.

Michaels, 46, is a busy guy. In addition to the show and the tour, he has an autobiography coming out in June. Poison was best known for the power ballad Every Rose Has Its Thorn and his most recent solo album was last year s Rock My World.

Tickets for Wednesday s concert at The Omni, 2567 West Bancroft St., are $35. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com.
