There's a new kid on the block for this year's Season of the Arts in Toledo.

A great big one that cost $105 million and literally spans a city block in downtown

Toledo. It's the Lucas County Arena, the giant gem at the center of a new season for music, comedy, sports, and fun in downtown Toledo.

It opens next month.

But as big and showy it is, the arena is just one element of the package that will feature the Black Swamp International Film Festival, a fi rst for Toledo, a full slate of music at the Valentine Theatre, celebrations of Art Tatum's 100th birthday, a vibrant schedule of theater offerings, and some exciting new alternative music in Bowling Green.

Our Arts section Sunday has it all covered with stories and long lists of events through 2010.
