Broadway aficionados will take special interest in this year's Valentine Theatre gala tomorrow night.

Along with pianist and composer Marvin Hamlisch, vocalists Anne Runolfsson and Gary Mauer will perform in a show entitled "From Broadway to Hollywood."

The event, a major fund-raiser for the historic downtown theater on Superior and Adams streets, will feature a reception, dining, and dancing in addition to the performance.

Hamlisch has won three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, a Tony, and three Golden Globe awards. And his A Chorus Line won the Pulitzer Prize. He has composed more than 40 motion picture scores, including The Way We Were and The Sting.

Runolfsson has played Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera and was the lead in Victor Victoria. She also has been in Les Miserables, Cyrano The Musical, The Secret Garden, and Aspects of Love.

Mauer has played the phantom in Phantom of the Opera, and his other credits include Show Boat, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pirates of Penzance, Sweeney Todd, and West Side Story.

The gala begins at 7 p.m. with the performances at 8 p.m. and dinner and dancing afterward. Tickets are $175, but advance tickets can be purchased for $160. Call the Valentine box office at 419-242-2787 for tickets and information.
