Johnny Knorr Orchestra back at Centennial Terrace

The Johnny Knorr Orchestra kicks off its 50th anniversary season this weekend at Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Rd., the first of several shows at the renovated Sylvania concert facility.

The orchestra is now under the direction of Jerry Knorr, Johnny Knorr's son, and this is also the 50th year it has celebrated Dancing Under the Stars at Centennial Terrace.

This season, in addition to presenting programs of The Best of Glenn Miller Music, The Music of the Swing and Sweet Bands, and A USO Party at the Centennial Canteen, the Orchestra will highlight the dancing styles of the foxtrot, waltz, swing, and Latin dances.

On June 30 the orchestra will present a Salute to the Armed Forces with a special veterans tribute with half-price admission for all veterans.

Here's the rundown of this year's Johnny Knorr Orchestra Dancing Under the Stars season:

Saturday — Dancing, 7:30-11 p.m.; admission $10.

June 30 — Salute to the Armed Forces, 7 p.m.-10:30 p.m.; admission $10; half-price for veterans.

July 17 — The Best of Glenn Miller, 7:30-11 p.m.; admission $10.

July 28 — Dancing, 7-10:30 p.m.; admission $10.

Aug. 14 — A USO Party at the Centennial Canteen, 7:30-11 p.m.; admission $5.

Aug. 28 — Music of the Swing and Sweet Bands, 7:30-11 p.m.; admission $10.

Sept. 18 — Roast dance, bonfires; casual dress, 7:30- 11 p.m.; admission $10.
