Nemeth opens blues concert series at Clazel

BOWLING GREEN - The Clazel Blues Concert series kicks off Friday night at the historic theater in downtown Bowling Green with a performance by soul singer John Nemeth.

The series will continue through October at the 127 North Main St. venue with concerts each month.

Tickets are $12 in advance from the Clazel box office and $15 the day of the show for the Nemeth performance and an Aug. 12 concert featuring John Lee Hooker, Jr. (yes, the son of the John Lee Hooker.) Admission for the other concerts in the series are $10 in advance and $12 the day of show.

Doors will open every night at 7, with music starting at 8.

Here's the rundown of shows:

•June 25 - Nemeth, a harp player and singer.

•July 23- Guitarist Bryan Lee.

•July 30 - Guitarist Andre "Jr. Boy" Jones.

•Aug. 12 - Hooker, Jr., and vocalist Janiva Magness.

•Aug. 27 - New Orleans band John Lisi & Delta Funk.

•Sept. 24 - Blues band The Avey Brothers.

•Oct. 29 - Steve "The Harp" Blues Band.
