Name of band: Ugly Tribe Revival
Lineup and instruments: Michael Fisher, vocals; Jason Copsey, guitars; “Dirt” Sayers, guitars; Justin Fuller, bass, and James Graham, drums
Year band was formed: 2006 (Formerly Society's Ugly Son)
Style of music: All original American rust belt rock and roll. Bred and fed in the great swamp of Ohio, we ooze a sludge-y noise. It's Southern rock's soulfulness mixed with the grinding dissonance of living in Detroit's shadow. It's Appalachian appeal weaved with flatlander skepticism. It's backwoods tradition swimming in Great Lakes modernity
Sounds a little like: The Allman Brothers arm wrestling with Iron Maiden? Stone Temple Pilots riding bicycles with Jethro Tull? Black Label Society baking pies with Loretta Lynn? White Zombie stealing flowers from the Black Crowes? Who knows.
Influences: Blue collar struggles, good natured folks, well-worded stories, raw tenacity, undeniable emotions and outrageous noises
Favorite venue: Toledo is filled with many great venues. We dig stomping the big stages for packed rooms and the lonely small floors alike. That's what real bands do.
Any CDs released?: Our third disc comes out soon. It's titled “Up On English Hill …” and it's better than whatever you just listened to today. It was recorded at Happyland Studio in Waterville. The release party is Aug. 20.
