12/8/2010

FREMONT -- Fresh off their 14th Grammy nomination, Diamond Rio will bring its Holidays and Hits tour to Fremont's Grace Community Church Sunday.

While the band has been best known for country hits "Meet In The Middle," "Love a Little Stronger," and "Norma Jean Riley," it has recently made the transition to Christian music. Since the band's recording debut in 1991, Diamond Rio has had three platinum albums (sales of more than a million) and won the Country Music Association's vocal group of the year award four times.

In 2007, the band released "A Diamond Rio Christmas: The Star Still Shines" on the Christian record label Word and this year was nominated in the Best Southern, Country, or Bluegrass Gospel Album category for their first full-length Christian release entitled "The Reason."

The band has had nine No. 1 hits and 22 Top 10 singles, selling more than 10 million albums.

Sunday's 7 p.m. concert will feature Christmas songs along with some of the band's hits and Christian music.

Tickets are $30 for reserved seats and $25 for general admission. They can be purchased with cash only at the church's box office, 900 Smith Rd., Fremont, at iTickets.com, or by calling 800-965-9324.
