Clowning around at SeaGate Centre

The Zenobia Shrine Circus opens today in the SeaGate Convention Centre, 401 Jefferson Ave. Aerial artists, big cats, clowns, and motorcycle stunt riders will be in performance at 2 and 6:30 p.m. daily through Sunday. All seats are reserved. '70s rocker Todd Rundgren ("We Gotta Get You a Woman," "I Saw the Light," "Can We Still Be Friends") comes to the Stranahan Theater at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. A Little Night Music, the award-winning opera by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, comes to life this week at Bowling Green State University. Produced by the BG Opera Theater, this musical take on the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of A Summer Night will be presented at 8 p.m. today-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center. The WAVE festival (Women Artists Visionaries and Enterpreneurs), will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Franciscan Theatre and Conference Center of Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. The Great Chili Cook-Off, a benefit for Mobile Meals of Toledo, will take place Saturday in the Stranahan Great Hall, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. More than 30 teams will compete from noon to 3 p.m. to produce the best chili, with chili sampling until 4 p.m. Awards will be announced at 3 and 3:30 p.m. A classic car show, DJ music, concessions, salsa tasting, and chef demonstrations will be ongoing from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free. The 49th Ann Arbor Film Festival continues through Sunday in several venues in downtown Ann Arbor. This year's program features more than 185 films, videos, and live performances, representing more than 25 countries.
