Nugent among Rib Off entertainers

Motor City Madman Ted Nugent, country star Clay Walker, and Eagles tribute band Hotel California will be the featured entertainment at the Yark Automotive Group's 28th annual Northwest Ohio Rib Off presented by The Blade Aug. 11-14.

The event at the Lucas County Fairgrounds, 1406 Key St., Maumee. also will include a number of national and local rib restaurants offering a variety of barbecue food.

Aug. 11 will feature Hotel California; Nugent will play Aug. 12; and a country music festival will be featured Aug. 13 with Walker, Ashton Shepherd, and Katie Armiger. Aug. 14 will feature "World Music Day" with various culturally diverse groups.

The winners of the 2011 Blade Battle of the Bands are expected to open for all of the national acts.

A new addition for families will be a kids amusement area as well as a United Air Dog competition sponsored by the Andersons.

The concerts are included in the price of admission to the Rib Off, but seating is limited, so prepurchasing tickets is recommended. Admission to the Rib Off is $3 for the Hotel California Eagles tribute. Admission to the Rib Off for the Nugent concert is $7 in advance and $10 at the door. Admission to the country show is $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

Gates open at 4 p.m. on Aug. 11 and Aug 12. Saturday admission is free from noon to 3pm. Sunday is $3 noon from 5 p. m.

Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster starting May 7. Tickets also are available at the Stranahan Theater, The Andersons, and all Tireman locations.

Optional VIP seating tickets are also available for Friday and Saturday night, priced $30 in advance for Nugent and $20 in advance for Walker.
