Kid Rock made good on his vow to donate to five organizations in his hometown of Detroit.

The musician born Robert Ritchie announced during the Detroit NAACP branch’s annual fund-raising dinner on May 1 that his foundation would give $50,000 to city recreation centers, a conservancy on Belle Isle, a youth theater group, a youth training agency, and Habitat for Humanity.

Rock officially handed over the money to the organizations Monday afternoon at Mayor Dave Bing’s office.

The mayor called Rock “a guy who’s Detroit through and through.”
