Ted Nugent headlines 28th Annual Rib Off

Dozens of ribbers will show off their grilling skills at the Yark Automotive Group's 28th Annual Rib Off, which kicks off today at Lucas County Fairgrounds, 1406 Key Street in Maumee.

National and local cooks will serve barbecued meats with all the trimmings, including corn on the cob, french fries, fried vegetables, funnel cakes for desert, and freshly squeezed lemonade to wash it all down.

New this year is a kids' amusement area and the United Air Dog competition sponsored by The Andersons.

The entertainment lineup features Ted Nugent, country star Clay Walker and Eagles tribute band, Hotel California.

Winners of The Blade's Battle of the Bands will open for the various shows. Blues/R&B winner John Sevilla and Severe Weather will open at 7:30 tonight for Hotel California along with Booyah!, the classic rock winner, at 8:15. Toledo band in theory, the new/alternative rock winner will open for Ted Nugent at 8:35 p.m. tomorrow. Brynn & Emma, the country winner, will open for Clay Walker at 9:10 p.m. Saturday. And solo/duo winner Meaghan Roberts will play at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Concerts are included in the price of admission to the Rib Off. Seating is limited and is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Hotel California will open the concert series at 9 p.m. today. Admission is $3. Ted Nugent will play tomorrow at 9 p.m. Advance tickets are $7 or $10 at the gate. The country music festival is Saturday, and features Walker, Ashton Shepherd, and Katie Armiger. Admission is $5 in advance and $7 at the gate.

Admission Sunday is free, compliments of CedarCreek Church.

VIP tickets are available for today and tomorrow at a price of $30 for the Ted Nugent show and $20 for Clay Walker.

The Rib Off runs from 4 to 11 p.m. today and tomorrow and from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday it will be from noon to 5 p.m.
