Switchfoot to play at new Stroh Center

BOWLING GREEN -- Armed with a new release, successful Christian alt-rock crossover Switchfoot performs at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bowling Green State University's new Stroh Center, 1535 E. Wooster St. Anberlin, a Christian pop-rock group, is the co-headliner.

Switchfoot -- singer-guitarist Jon Foreman, bassist Tim Foreman, drummer Chad Butler, keyboardist Jerome Fontamillas, guitarist Drew Shirley -- released its latest album, "Vice Verses," on Tuesday.

" 'Vice Verses' to me is all about depth," Fontamillas said in a video posted on the band's Web site, switchfoot.com. "You go layer to layer, whether it's in yourself or you go deep into music. There's so much room for emotion, so much room for feeling. I felt like this album is reaching new highs, new lows ... and I'm really excited about it."

The San Diego band has a string of popular albums in its 15-year run, including "Hello Hurricane," which was awarded a Grammy earlier this year for Best Rock Gospel Album. The band probably is best known outside of the Christian music scene for the mainstream multi-platinum album "The Beautiful Letdown," which produced two top 20 hits -- "Dare You to Move" and "Meant to Live" -- in 2003, as well as the follow-up record two years later, "Nothing Is Sound."
