A “Salute to Our Troops” Veterans Day concert is today at 7 p.m. in the Cantrick Auditorium at Arborwood South Elementary School, 1008 Riverview Ave.

The vocal concert will be presented by the fifth and sixth grade classes.

The students and their choir teacher, Janelle Martin, have put together an electronic photo album that will be shown on a large screen.

In other Monroe Public Schools news, Waterloo Elementary is collecting old phone books at its recycling bin as part of a countywide recycling effort sponsored by AT&T and Monroe County. The drive, now in its third year, ends Dec. 10.

Waterloo has earned a Michigan Green School designation, which is bestowed on schools that achieve environmental goals, including protecting air, land, water, and animals.
