Military tribute, music for holidays set at Owens

Owens College Community Band is to give a free concert at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts on the Perrysburg Township campus.

The holiday and Tuskegee Airmen tribute concert will feature Christmas and Hanukkah music, Gary Herren’s alto saxophone solo of “Harlem Nocturne” music from the Broadway show Chicago, and a patriotic tribute. Refreshments will be served in the lobby.

Guest of honor is to be Col. Harold Brown, of Catawaba Island, Ohio, a World War II Tuskegee Airman.

He retired as vice president of academic affairs at Columbus State Community College and is a consultant for the Ohio Board of Career Colleges and Schools.
