Event showcases local comedians

Some of Toledo's funniest comedians will serve up laughs at Stand Up Toledo Sunday at the Maumee Indoor Theater. The event will feature 10 local comedians, who each have 15 minutes to bring the funny. This year's show is made up of comedians from last year's showcase, mixed with several new acts. Returning comedians include Jake Dickey, Kool Keith, Meghan O. Koesters, Corey W. King, and Mark Frederick. New to the lineup are Dominic Baker, Brad Wenzel, Tom Hofbauer, Mary Santora, and Steve Smargon. Tickets are $20 at the door and $15 in advance and can be purchased at standuptoledo.com. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.

The Toledo Roadrunners Club will run for doughnuts at the fifth annual Donut Dash 5K Prediction Race. The event will take place Sunday at Second Sole at Levis Commons. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m. Refreshments, including doughnuts, hot chocolate, and sports drinks, will be available. Participants will run and/or walk the course roads around Levis Commons. The event is free for TRRC members and $5 for non-members. Information: toledoroadrunners.org.

The Northwest Ohio Writers Forum will host author Frank Kuron on Saturday at the Way Library in Perrysburg from 10 a.m. to noon. Kuron is the author of the book Thus Fell Tecumseh, about the controversy over the death of Native American leader Tecumseh during the War of 1812. He has also written several articles about the War of 1812. During his appearance, he will discuss tips for writing about history. The event is free and open to the public.
