Spotlight: Elektronic Dream Faktory

1/24/2013

Lineup: Timothy Kays

Year began performing: Since 1975. I began recording as a solo artist as a self-healing project in 2010.

Style of music: Electronic music, ambient, space, and electro-pop.

Influences: Tangerine Dream, Synergy, Klaus Schulze, Michel Hoenig, Cluster, Brian Eno, Jean Michel Jarre, Pink Floyd, J. S. Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann.

Sounds a little like: A more abstract and "out there" Pink Floyd.

Favorite local venues: On a small scale, the Degage Jazz Cafe; on a large scale, the Stranahan Theater.

Upcoming gigs/projects: Recently, the Sound4Good record label partnered with Healing Newtown (healingnewtown.org), a division of the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission, to help support the community by offering the new release "For Our Children: A Benefit for Sandy Hook" by various artists, available exclusively to everyone who donates at least $1. This album serves as sound healing comfort for children and adults throughout the world. I recorded a song for the album and am proud to represent northwestern Ohio in this musical effort to restore peace to a shattered community.

Web site: The album is available at forourchildren.bandcamp.com.
