Day-long concert to benefit autism

Project iAm is gearing up to host its annual Acoustics for Autism fund-raiser. The day-long concert series is free and will be from noon until about 2 a.m. Sunday at the Village Idiot on Conant Street in Maumee. The show will include two stages with more than 30 bands and musical acts. The lineup includes Flabongo Nation, Kyle White, Zak Ward, Jason Quick, Kristi Marie & The Dudes, Bulletproof Snow, and Jeff Tucker. Children's activities begin at 2 p.m. A silent auction will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at Buster Brown's next door to the concert venue. Items for auction include a Miguel Cabrera autographed baseball, a baseball bat autographed by Prince Fielder, and Red Wings hockey tickets. Musical legends of the 1960s are headed to Maumee Indoor Theater for a night of oldies tunes. The show at 8 p.m. Saturday will feature The Vogue, Terry Sylvester (former member of the Hollies), and the Shades of Blue. The Vogue became popular for hits that include "You're the One" and "Special Angel." Shades of Blue gained popularity with its hit "Oh How Happy," while Sylvester's catalog of hits includes "Carrie Anne," "Stop Stop Stop," and "Long Cool Woman." Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the theater.

The Professional Remodelers Organization will host the 45th annual Home Improvement & Garden Show Friday through Sunday at the SeaGate Convention Centre. The event will feature dozens of area vendors showcasing their works and services through exhibits, displays, and demonstrations. In addition, there will be raffles, antique appraisals, and a NASCAR simulator ride. Doors are open from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Adult tickets are $6 for a one-day pass and $12 for a three-day pass. Seniors age 60 and older will be admitted for $5 and children 12 and under and military personnel with ID are admitted free.
