The River Raisin National Battlefield Park will host a Women's History Day and Tea from noon to 4 p.m. April 20. The elegant tea will be a re-enactment of such gatherings held 200 years ago in Frenchtown. Craft demonstrations from the era will be given, including weaving, quilting, and knitting.

At noon, Mary Ellen Van Wasshenova will speak about the women of Frenchtown who lived during the War of 1812.

She will be followed by the Monroe Community Players, who will re-create scenes from Frenchtown.

At 2 p.m., horticulturist and master gardener Cheryl Maitland will discuss the native herbs and plants of the Frenchtown area.
