Actor-comedian Rob Schneider to perform 4 shows

Emmy-nominated actor Rob Schneider will bring his trademark blend of character and comedic acting to the Toledo Funny Bone this weekend. Schneider, who has broadened his focus to include directing, producing, and writing, will perform four shows over two days. His recent works include a role in the romantic comedy You May Not Kiss the Bride, released on DVD in February, and American Virgin, released in 2009. This weekend's shows begin at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $27 and guests must be 21 or older to attend. Dancing elephants, acrobats, and motorcycle cowboys are headed to the Stroh Center in Bowling Green as the Piccadilly Circus rolls into town. The circus will feature the "Cossak Warriors" on horseback, the Motorcycle Nitro Cowboys, camels and zebras performing with ponies, clowns, and comedy. Shows begin at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday at the arena on the Bowling Green State University campus. Tickets are $8 for children's general admission and $18 for children's ringside VIP. Adult general admission is $28 and $38 for ringside VIP. Tickets can be purchased online at thefuncircus.com. The Lucas County Foster Parent Association will hold its 13th annual Walk-a-Thon Saturday at the Liz Pierson Shelter House at Ottawa Park. The event is a benefit to support the Johnson Family Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to children emancipating from foster care who plan to attend college or seek career training after high school. The association plans to award two $1,000 scholarships in 2013. Registration for the walk begins at 10:15 a.m. for the 11 a.m. walk. Participants will walk 6.2 miles (10K). Participants are encouraged to walk individually or as a team, and prizes will be awarded for top fund-raisers. Donation forms are available by calling 419-213-3347.

Israeli-born jazz pianist Guy Mintus, 21, will perform Wednesday at Jazz on the Maumee at the Grand Plaza Hotel Aqua Lounge. He is a recent recipient of the Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award by American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and of two Down Beat Magazine Student Awards for Outstanding Jazz Performance and Arrangement. He lives in New York City and studies at the Manhattan School of Music. Clifford Murphy will play bass. Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 for members of the Art Tatum Jazz Society, and $5 for students. The Aqua Lounge is at 444 N. Summit St. Music will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
