When Reeves Gabrels takes a break from his role as guitarist with iconic British mope rockers The Cure it makes perfect sense that he'd spend some time working out solo material in Maumee, right?

Yes, it's kind of strange, but the Nashville-based Gabrels has a solid relationship with Ken Haas, Toledo musician and leader of Reverend Guitars (of which Gabrels is a player and endorser) and the connection is so strong that the guitarist regularly visits the Village Idiot for periodic shows.

He will be at the Village Idiot in Maumee Friday night for an early show at 7 p.m. that will be followed by Polka Floyd at 10 p.m. The latter is Haas' band that specializes in polka covers of Pink Floyd songs.

Gabrels played in Tin Machine and collaborated with David Bowie, has done several solo albums, and is now guitarist for The Cure. TICKET INFO TO COME. The Village Idiot is at 309 Conant St.
