Actor/comedian Bellamy comes to Funny Bone

Actor and veteran stand-up comic Bill Bellamy will perform at the Toledo Funny Bone tonight through Saturday. Bellamy, former host of NBC's Last Comic Standing, will take the stage at 7:30 tonight. Additional shows are scheduled for 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and 7 and 10 Saturday night. Bellamy has starred in independent films and big-screen productions, including The Brothers, Love Jones, and Any Given Sunday. His popularity rose after stints on HBO's Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam. Bellamy also hosted MTV Jamz for five years and was the voice of Skeeter on Nickelodeon's action-comedy series Cousin Skeeter. Tickets to this weekend's shows are $27 each and guests must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets can be purchased at the Funny Bone box office or online at funnybonecentral.com.

The Elmore Historical Society will host its 34th annual Portage River Festival Sunday at Depot Park in Elmore. This year's events begin at 7 a.m. at Woodmore High School for the 38th annual Portage River Bicycle Tour. Sign-up for the annual Portage River Festival 5k run/walk will take place from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. at Elmore Cycle and Fitness Shop. The festival will feature a live performance at noon by Heidi's Twirlers, of Woodville. Live music begins at 11 a.m. Other festival highlights include a car show and tractor show. The Morenci Town and Country Festival promises a weekend of fun with carnival rides and games, live music, a parade, and more. The three-day event kicks off at 5 p.m. today at Wakefield Park in Morenci. Tonight, a carnival and a Mini Bulldogs cheerleading event is scheduled, followed by bingo and the annual royalty contest at 6 p.m. The Old Guys versus Young Guys softball game will begin at 8 p.m. and the Kevin Bordine Band is set to take to the stage at 8:30 p.m. The carnival and beer tent will continue on Friday and musical acts for Friday night are the Finish Line Band at 6 and the Massasauga Band at 9. Saturday's events open with registration for the 5K run at 7:30 a.m. The race begins at 8 a.m. There also will be a parade, car show, and dodgeball tournament.
