The Scene Spotlight: Elixer

7/19/2013

Lineup: Dave Rybaczewski, lead vocals and acoustic rhythm guitar, and Walter Guy lead acoustic guitar and backing vocals. Our act is billed as “Acoustic Beatles Tribute with Elixer.”

Year formed: 2005.

Influences: We specialize in the music of The Beatles and include in our set list more than 100 Beatles songs — the hits and a good amount of obscure songs as well. We also intersperse hits of the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, and even a little of the ’80s into our repertoire.

Sounds a little like: We try our best to sound like The Beatles, including the harmonies, lead guitar lines and the overall feel of their music. We do our best to sound like whatever artist we’re performing at the time, such as The Eagles, America, The Guess Who, Cat Stevens, Billy Joel, Everly Brothers, Bill Withers, and Elton John. All of these artists are influences as well.

Favorite local venue: River Cafe and Marina in Erie, by the water in the marina district of Point Place near the Lost Peninsula. We’re playing there nearly every Friday this summer through September.

Upcoming gigs: Quimby’s Food & Spirits, 3536 Sterns Rd., Lambertville, today and July 25, 6 to 9 p.m.; River Cafe & Marina, 6215 Edgewater Dr., Erie on Friday and July 26, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
