■ Trombone Shorty to return for Jazz Society concert
Hot young jazz and rhythm and blues trombonist Trombone Shorty is returning to Toledo for a concert Sept. 18 presented by the Art Tatum Jazz Heritage Society.
The show at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle is a return engagement for Troy Andrews, aka Trombone Shorty, who performed a blistering set at the venue in October of 2011. His uplifting shows feature high-energy stage craft, virtuoso playing, and a wide variety of styles of music.
He is scheduled to perform at the museum at 8 p.m. Sept. 18. Tickets go on sale Sunday to Society members and Aug. 12 to the general public. Ticket prices are being determined and will be announced later this week. Information is available by emailing email@example.com.
The Jazz Society also announced the ticket prices for a unique pairing of food and music Aug. 28 featuring New Orleans trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis. A Night of New Orleans Jazz and Food at the Great Western Premier Grand Plaza Hotel, 444 N. Summit St., will be $55 for Society members and $65 for nonmembers and will feature music and a buffet of New Orleans-style food.
Tickets for an after-show meet and greet with Marsalis are $75 for members and $85 for non-members. For ticket information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
His band will include Victor Goines, Mark Gross, Marquis Hill, Lauren Sevian, Eric Wheeler, Richard Johnson, and Winard Harper.
■ Lady A tour to stop at Huntington Center
Country and western hit-makers Lady Antebellum will play Toledo's Huntington Center Nov. 16 as part of the band’s Take Me Downtown tour.
The seven-time Grammy Award-winning trio's show will feature opening acts Kip Moore and Kacey Musgraves.
Lady A sold out the Toledo Zoo in 2011 so this likely will be a hot ticket when they go on sale Sept. 13. Ticket prices have not been set. Information will be available at ladyantebellum.com.
