The Perrysburg High School Theatre schedule for the 2013-2014 school year has been released and Rumors and West Side Story are on tap.

Rumors will be the fall play with shows Nov. 8, Nov. 9, and Nov. 10. It is about a dinner party with several couples as one couple celebrates a 10-year anniversary. The farce play brings humor out through finding out the mystery of a man shot in the ear at the beginning of the night upstairs.

"We did it 15 years ago and I recently saw it and remembered how funny it is," said Rob Gentry, Perrysburg High School drama teacher, and the club's director. "It is not physical comedy, but there are a lot of one liners."

Auditions will be Sept. 3 and Sept. 4. At the high school orientation, there will be audition packets with more information. The play has five female and male characters.

West Side Story will be shown May 1 through May 4. The high school last performed it 20 years ago. It is a remaking of Romeo and Juliet only instead of two families fighting it is between two rival gangs.

"It is serious, but there is still some humor," Mr. Gentry said. "It is a dance heavy show."

Mr. Gentry said a bunch of male acting talent is coming back this year making West Side Story a good choice with so many male roles. Auditions for that show will be Jan. 27 through Jan. 29.

There is also a Winter One Acts that has three one-act shows that usually last 30 to 40 minutes a show. Mr. Gentry said they haven't decided what acts will be performance, but it will be two comedies and one serious.

"For Winter One Acts we have seats on the stage," Mr. Gentry said. "It is a different experience with the audience so close to the actors."

The Winter One Acts auditions are on Nov. 4 and Nov. 6 with the show playing from Jan. 23 to Jan. 26, and Jan. 30 to Feb. 2.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, there will be a Perrysburg Theatre Boosters meeting in room 106, the drama room, at the high school.
