Blues guitarists to be honored; Locoweed gets back together

A blues guitar summit and the reunion of a popular Toledo pioneers Locoweed will be showcased in separate gigs Saturday night.

The Black Swamp Blues Society is presenting 5 Blues Guitarists at the Rocket Bar, 135 S. Byrne Rd., in a show that will feature Buzz Anderson, Larry Gold, Adam Garcia, Jeff Williams, and Josh Boyd. The show is hosted by the V.I.P. band with special guests.

Jon Lemerand, also known as Beans Morocco, is returning to Toledo from California for the first time in about 20 years for a Locoweed show at Forester’s on the Docks.

The band played country rock covers from the ’70s and the show will feature as many as 15 of the people who have been in Locoweed over the years, including Dave Athanas, Mike Malone, and Don Binkley. Lemerand last played with the band in 1992.

Doors open at 6:30 and the show will include Voodoo Libido. The Docks is on the east side of the Maumee River directly across from downtown Toledo.
