The Last Born Sons

Lineup: Matthew Havers, guitar, vocals, bass, mandolin; Jonathan Rutter, drums, bass, vocals; and Kyle Smithers, bass, guitar, vocals, harmonica. We try to invite many local artists to sit in with us as well. Sharing the stage is something we encourage and see as important to our performances.

Style of music: We aim to hit all ages and genres: country, classic rock, blues, acoustic.

Influences: Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Hank Williams, Jr., and Hank Williams III, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Black Keys, Danny Gatton, Tom Petty, all the blues legends.

Sounds a little like: Everything you want to hear on a night out on the town. We select covers a lot of other local bands don't do.

CD releases: Hope to be recording music early next year.

Favorite places to play: Anywhere in downtown Toledo, such as Ye Olde Cock 'n Bull, Bronze Boar, and the Blarney. Also Mr. Ed's in Port Clinton and bars in Maumee, Perrysburg, and Petersburg, Mich. Lambertville and Temperance have been big supporters.
