Lourdes' Fall Music Showcase features Sylvania native

Lourdes University Department of Music presented on Sunday the annual Fall Music Showcase which celebrated life enriching qualities of music.

The three-hour long concert performance opened with university’s choir singing songs of faith and travel, directed by Karen T. Biscay. The night’s performers also included a guest string quartet and an oboe soloist. The annual concert took place in Franciscan Center.

Also the university’s music department chairman, Ms. Biscay was planned the showcase theme around music’s “life enriching, mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual activity,” that is also a part of her teaching philosophy.

Special guest presenter Sylvania native Dr. Paul Fine, associate professor of Internal Medicine at University of Michigan, told those in attendance about his life journey and serving people as a physician, counselor, teacher, mentor, and father. Also a composer and pianist, Dr. Fine, performed some original compositions.

The concert ended with faculty, students and guests, performing solo and chamber music, followed by a reception.
