  • Musica Antigua de Toledo will launch its 2013-2014 season with a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1001 Madison Ave. The program, titled Wandering the Continent, will focus on European music from Medieval and Renaissance times. Performing members use period instruments such as recorders, shawms (early oboe), lute, krumhorns, sackbutts, viols of various sizes, harpsichord, and the voice.

Founded in 1979 by Alice Neff Petersen, a specialist in early music, the group concentrates on works written before 1750. Concerts typically are thematic and performed in the manner of the time in which the music originated.

Members with Petersen, who is a professor in the University of Toledo Department of Music, include Barbara Neff Craig, Sandra Kellogg, Jennifer Krull, Andrea Kissell, Tamilyn Shean, Donald Jackson, and Andrew Phillips.

Upcoming concerts will be Baroque Music from the Boot Heel to the Baltic, works from Italy and Germany, at 3:30 p.m. March 2 at the UT Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall, and Jaunting Through England: Castles, Courts and Cathedrals, at 3:30 p.m. May 18 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 North Reynolds Rd.
