The Lourdes University music department will present its annual Christmas concert, “Carols for Christmas,” at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.

The concert is free and open to the public in the Franciscan Center Theatre.

The concert features the Lourdes University Chorus, the Good Company Ensemble, and the new Sonic 5 student vocal ensemble, directed by Karen T. Biscay with accompanist Olga Topuzova-Meade, and the Maumee Community Band, directed by Kevin Heidbreder.

“Carols for Christmas” will feature the chorus in Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, nine English carols from the 14th through 16th centuries framed by a Gregorian Chant for Christmas Day, with harp accompaniment performed by Julie Buzzelli. Lighter seasonal songs from A Charlie Brown Christmas, P.D.Q. Bach, and others will be offered by Good Company and Sonic 5.

The Maumee Community Band will perform seasonal favorites, including new holiday carol arrangements, selections from The Polar Express and Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride.

This concert will conclude with a sing-along for band, choirs, and audience. Doors open at 7:15 pm. No tickets are necessary.
