Slain couple s daughter to care for 13 children
7/19/2009PENSACOLA, Fla. The adult daughter of a slain Florida couple known for adopting 13 special needs children says she is moving into her parents home to take care of the children.
Ashley Markham told the Pensacola News Journal that she and her husband plan to raise the children as their own. The 26-year-old says it was her mother s wish. A message was left by The Associated Press on Sunday with her attorney.
Byrd and Melanie Billings were shot to death in their home west of Pensacola earlier this month in a break-in. Eight people have been arrested in the case.
Markham says the house were the attack occurred now has new doors. A security gate is going in and locks have been changed. She says the children are anxious to get back home.
