CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Authorities are responding to a South Florida high school after a student was fatally stabbed on campus.

Police spokeswoman Janette Frevola said Coral Gables Senior High School was put on lock down Tuesday morning.

Miami-Dade police sent out a news release that said it was responding to the school's address for a "death investigation."

Miami-Dade schools superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho said there had been a stabbing at the school and that someone breached security. He was at the state Board of Education meeting in Miami but had to leave to attend to the incident.

Authorities have not released additional details.
