Water-filled Detroit sinkhole nearly swallows SUV
3 inside escape without serious injury
8/19/2011DETROIT — A water-filled sinkhole has nearly swallowed a sport utility vehicle in Detroit.
Police say the woman was trying to drive slowly through water on the street on Thursday afternoon when her SUV failed to gain traction.
Under the water, a sinkhole opened up.
Police say the woman, her daughter and granddaughter all escaped without serious injury. The SUV then sank further under the water.
