The Florida boxer who collapsed Tuesday during a bout at the SeaGate Convention Centre remained in critical condition last night at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Ishika Lay, 32, of Jacksonville was fighting in the National Police Athletic League Boxing Championship for a chance to be on the U.S. women’s Olympic team when she collapsed.

John M. Phillips, the attorney representing Ms. Lay and her family, said the boxer remained in intensive care and that the matter is still being investigated.

“Although the family asks for privacy at this time, it is overwhelmingly grateful for the love and support shown for her,” Mr. Phillips said.
