A Detroit man found guilty of firing three rounds into a vehicle parked at Westfield Franklin Park mall in January has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Edmund J. Robinson, 34, pleaded guilty in April to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Judge James Carr Monday sentenced him to time in federal prison and ordered him to pay about $1,500 to the victim for damage to his car.

According to Toledo police, the incident occurred about 6:45 p.m. Jan. 4, when Bedford Township resident Richard Dougherty arrived at the mall and accidentally opened his vehicle's door into the side of Robinson's vehicle as it was parking next to his.

Robinson allegedly tried to quarrel with Mr. Dougherty and trip him as he walked his family into the mall. Authorities said when Mr. Dougherty returned to his vehicle to move it, he found the driver's side front and rear windows of his vehicle had been shot out, as had the rear passenger window and left rear tire.
