Man charged in carjacking of WWII vet

DETROIT -- A 20-year-old Detroit man was charged Saturday in the daylight attack and carjacking of an 86-year-old World War II veteran at a busy gas station.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office said Paris Comillion was charged with carjacking and is scheduled to appear Sunday in 36th District Court.

Authorities say Aaron Brantley was pumping gas Feb. 22 when he was knocked down and his keys were taken by a suspect, who drove off with Mr. Brantley's car.

Mr. Brantley told the Associated Press that nobody helped him right after the assault. Surveillance video shows Mr. Brantley crawling as several people pass him. Police released video showing Mr. Brantley paying the cashier before the carjacking. A man who authorities say is the suspect looked at Mr. Brantley and left.

Mr. Brantley, who retired after a 31-year career as a welder at Chrysler, said he was coming home from a morning Bible study.
