MIAMI — Two adults died in a shooting at a high school in Jacksonville, Florida, a fire department official said on Tuesday.

The shooting occurred at the Episcopal High School shortly after 1 p.m., said Tom Francis, a spokesman for the Jacksonville Fire Department.

No students were involved and the school was not placed under lockdown, said Jacksonville Sheriff Department spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda. “There is no one in danger and no outstanding suspect on the loose,” she added.

Fire rescue officials were dispatched to the school after receiving a call at 1:23 p.m. that there was “a man on campus with a gun,” said Bujeda.

Episcopal High School is a private, co-ed school of about 900 students in central Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville-based Florida Times-Union newspaper cited an unconfirmed report that the shooting involved a maintenance man and an administrator.

The paper said police cars were at the scene of the school, whose driveway was partially blocked off with police tape.
