James Hartung, former president of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, has been named the first dean of the College to Careers program at Olive Harvey College, one of seven City Colleges of Chicago.

The program was created to forge partnerships among colleges, corporations, and organizations for job creation in growing fields such as health care. Mr. Hartung's primary focus will be on transportation, distribution, and logistics programs.

Mr. Hartung was fired from his port authority job in 2008 for "an inappropriate relationship with a vendor."

He is also chairman of the board of N-Viro International Inc., a Toledo wastewater-treatment technology firm.
